Gerald Rudolph Ford was the 38th president of the United States from 1974-1977. Ford had been chosen as Richard Nixon's new vice president after Nixon's previous vice president resigned, but he became president after Nixon resigned in August 1974. This made Gerald Ford the only completely unelected president, as he wasn't elected vice president or president. Ford ran in the 1976 election but lost to Jimmy Carter. Ford is ranked as an average president, as during his presidency stagflation and gas prices increased and he made the controversial decision of pardoning Nixon of all crimes.
Ford was born on July 14, 1913 in Omaha, Nebraska.
Ford died on December 26, 2006 in Rancho Mirage, California.
