John Tyler was the tenth president of America who served from 1841 - 1845. He was originally William Henry Harrison's vice president until Harrison died one month into his presidency. Tyler was unpopular, and failed to get renominated by the Whigs or the Democrats. He ran in a third party, but he eventually dropped out to support James Polk.
John Tyler was born on March 29, 1790, in Charles City County, Virginia.
John Tyler died on January 18, 1862 in Richmond, Virginia. He is the only president buried under the Confederate flag.
