Warren G. Harding: Twenty-ninth president of America from 1921 - 1923

Harding in 1921

Warren Gamaliel Harding was the 29th president of the United States who served from 1921 until his death in 1923. Harding had promised a "Return to Normalcy", and was able to win the election due to the unpopularity of Woodrow Wilson and the Democrats as a whole. However, while most thought Harding was good, behind the scenes it was much more shady. Harding had put his close friends into Cabinet positions instead of qualified experts. After Harding's death in 1923, the Teapot-Dome scandal was exposed, and a lot of the cabinet members were federally prosecuted. His lasting impact is probably the start of the Roaring '20s and his Return to Normalcy phrase, which has been used a lot since Harding, the most notable use being by Joe Biden in 2020.

Birth

Harding was born on November 2, 1865 in Blooming Grove, Ohio.

Death

Harding died in a hotel in San Francisco, California on August 2, 1923.
